Richard Williams
Aztec Solar’s Managing Director and founder. Richard has been the driving force behind Aztec Solar’s success for 13 great years, and with over 3 decades of invaluable experience in the construction and energy sectors, he’s seen it all. His experience and knowledge from previous senior leadership roles held at top-tier construction companies across the UK including Wimpey, McLaren and Energetiks has led to him being a trusted authority on the design and installation of PV (photovoltaic) and BESS (battery energy storage systems) today.
Richard implements and oversees both short-term and long-term strategies at Aztec Solar, and is involved in every aspect of our projects from initial quotes and designs, to the installation and maintenance of our systems. He’s a key part of our company’s close-knit culture, often saying that his favourite aspect of Aztec Solar is working with a dedicated team of professionals who look out for each other.
Fun fact: Richard’s talented in a few areas – he plays guitar, loves poetry and is an excellent cook.
Andy Rowlands
Andy Rowlands is our Operations Manager here at Aztec Solar Energy, who brings over 25 years of experience in the electrical industry to his role. With a wealth of knowledge in both project and operations management, Andy now manages our incredible teams of Project Managers and Designers, providing both technical and commercial guidance across all projects.
Andy’s passion for his work shines through in his proactive approach and dedication to each project, ensuring seamless delivery from point of sale to completion. He enjoys working with Aztec Solar’s dedicated and forward-thinking team and says that being surrounded by others who are passionate about the job makes it all the more enjoyable coming to work every day.
Fun fact: Andy is the third team member to join Aztec Solar who has twins!
Jacky Jakeman
Our jack of all trades, Jacky Jakeman, has been with Aztec Solar Energy for 10 great years and expertly manages our finance and estimations. From her beginnings in admin and finance in Guernsey, to her tenure utilising her engineering degree (BEng (Hons)) working for a luxury car manufacturer, Jacky has brought a unique blend of skills to the company.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jacky dedicated 10 years to raising her twins and supporting her husband in his work. She is inspired by Aztec Solar’s unwavering commitment to its values and culture amidst the company’s rapid growth and enjoys being part of an inclusive and positive team where each person matters.
Fun fact: Jacky enjoys playing tennis – but doesn’t enjoy the injuries that come with it!
David Ludlow
Dave Ludlow is our Construction Manager here at Aztec Solar; he’s a seasoned projects and contracts management professional, with over 40 years’ experience in the industry. At Aztec Solar, Dave is our go-to-guy for overseeing large and small projects and providing support to our team of Project Managers. He brings invaluable experience to our company and is trusted by our clients and subcontractors to be a reliable point of contact for anything they may need. He values the welcoming atmosphere at Aztec Solar, where he says that it feels as if you’re working with friends.
Fun fact: Dave’s also known as Dr Doolittle in our office as he’s always feeding and rescuing birds!
Nick Jones
Nick Jones is our Contracts Manager here at Aztec Solar – he joined us last year and brought with him over 25 years’ project management experience in the construction industry. He drives our solar projects from their initial concept and design to completion, ensuring that we consistently uphold our quality standards, an achievement for which he has previously won awards.
Having managed projects across a multitude of industries including education, medical and commercial, Nick’s knowledge and experience has been invaluable for us at Aztec Solar as we take on more and more projects across these sectors. Nick thrives in Aztec Solar’s collaborative environment and enjoys being able to autonomously manage his own workload. Juggling budgets and schedules whilst being a liaison for our clients, installers, suppliers and structural engineers keeps Nick busy day to day when he’s not driving up and down the country visiting our project sites.
Fun fact: Nick enjoys visiting the Nürburgring every year with his son (and often tries to get out there twice a year!)
Craig Rixon
Meet Craig Rixon, our dynamic Project Manager and Aztec Solar Energy’s newest team member! Craig specialises in meticulously planning, executing and overseeing our install projects, always prioritising quality and cost-effectiveness. He collaborates closely with our clients to define their project specifications, schedules and their expectations, ensuring seamless delivery by coordinating with our installers, engineers and design team.
Craig brings with him invaluable experience, having held previous project management roles in the solar PV industry – and he’s a trained electrician making him our go-to guy for anything sparky related! He’s drawn to Aztec Solar’s family-oriented culture and strong values, which have provided steadfast support during his recent journey into parenthood for a second time.
Fun fact: Craig and his partner took two weeks to name their new baby!
Nelly Palmer
Meet Nelly Palmer, our dedicated Project Coordinator who joined the team last October. With a strong background in administration and 6 years of experience managing projects and clients in the energy sector, Nelly plays a key role in keeping our projects on track.
As well as managing our CRM and building and maintaining vital relationships with contractors, Nelly supports our Project Managers and Directors day-to-day to ensure smooth project delivery. You might know her best for her social media presence as she helps out with Aztec Solar’s LinkedIn page.
Nelly loves working at Aztec Solar because of the amazing people we have in our team and the company’s family values. She feels everyone is always ready to lend a hand and support each other, and that each individual’s contribution is recognised and valued which makes her excited to come to work every day and give her best.
Fun fact: Nelly is a proud dog mum who named both of her pups after types of fruit!
Rhys Bramley
Our Design Manager, Rhys Bramley, came onboard a year ago and is the mastermind behind the scenes designing our bespoke solar PV systems. Rhys reviews our client’s specifications against site conditions and the most up to date regulations to create the most efficient systems for our clients and their businesses.
Having previously worked as a CAD Technician and System and Design Developer, Rhys brought design, system and technical knowledge to Aztec Solar and collaborates with our project managers, engineers and technicians to ensure we deliver the most cost-effective solar PV systems for our clients. Passionate about driving a cleaner, more sustainable future, Rhys finds fulfilment in contributing to Aztec Solar’s mission, and values the company’s culture of support and growth, where every employee’s efforts are recognised and appreciated.
Fun Fact: Rhys once won £25,000 on a scratch card!
Daniel Eremwanarue
Meet our Design Engineer, Daniel Eremwanarue, who joined us in September 2023 and quickly became an integral part of our team. With a master’s degree in Renewable Energy, a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and previous experience working as a PV installer and consultant, Dan brings a wealth of technical knowledge to his role.
Specialising in commercial solar power, Daniel is passionate about finding the optimum solar solutions for our clients by conducting site assessments, analysing data and performing technical calculations. Dan enjoys the culture and being made to feel like a part of the family here at Aztec Solar. He says that having a great work environment encourages him to strive for excellence, both in his professional role and in his personal growth, and that the team’s shared commitment to renewable energy makes it a truly rewarding place to work!
Fun fact: Dan enjoys watching anime.
Gilly Crabtree
Bringing with her a wealth of accounting experience, Gilly Crabtree joined Aztec Solar last year as our Accounts/Admin Assistant. She’s worked in finance across a multitude of industries including construction, housing and education. She previously helped run her family business and later went on to run her own business, employing a team of 5 and overseeing all processes. Alongside all this, Gilly has raised her own family and been a full-time foster carer for the past 20 years, giving a loving and stable home to the most vulnerable children, offering encouragement and ongoing support throughout their lives.
At Aztec Solar, she works to keep our financial processes and procedures running smoothly, maintaining our sales ledger and credit control, maintaining our purchase ledger, preparing weekly payment runs and processing purchase orders. Gilly takes great pride in building meaningful relationships with her peers, suppliers and customers, and has said that she’s thrilled to be a part of the Aztec Solar team, where every member is appreciated and valued, calling the team ‘a true working family’.
Fun fact: Gilly enjoys aqua aerobics and would like to start line dancing – she even has a pair of cowgirl boots at the ready!
Kimberley Meikle
Meet Kimberley Meikle, our Project Support Manager here at Aztec Solar! Since joining us last year, Kimberley has become an invaluable member of our team. With a background that spans 24 years in finance and office management across a diverse range of industries, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her role.
In her ever-evolving role, Kimberley supports our entire team and our valued subcontractors, expertly managing all DNO (Distribution Network Operator) matters and overseeing our critical handover processes. Her on-the-job learning and extensive experience with projects in research and development companies have equipped her with unique skills that she brought with her to Aztec Solar.
Kimberley loves the family-like environment at Aztec Solar; her favourite aspects of working here are the friendships she’s made and the opportunity to be a part of our growing business. She believes in the power of teamwork and is dedicated to contributing to our collective success.
Fun Fact: You’ll only ever see Kimberley run when she’s after a loose horse!
